Sustainability for our Educational Campuses
Sustainability is an important part of our business, already being an environmental industry company. Green Options enjoy providing innovative landscaping ideas and outcomes for our clients, namely the education sector, who actively promote ideas to minimise waste and recycling. Our landscape teams regularly build and maintain greenhouses for on-site propagation, compost bays for re-use on the gardens, water harvesting and collection and student participation in gardening and sustainable living.
Our horticultural and turf teams utilise battery powered hedge trimmers for their maintenance works in sensitive and public areas.
Battery machinery impacts include:
- No re-fuelling
- Quieter for students in class
- Just as effective cutting blades as petrol equipment
- No ongoing engine servicing and less maintenance
- Equipment is Lightweight.
- Reduced daily running costs
- No direct co2 emissions
- Work without exhaust fumes
- 80% of the battery is recyclable
Our site team members enjoy being involved in the local school communities that they work in, we have been known to work together with science and health departments within the school to create vegetable gardens for pupils to grow produce for healthy eating whilst learning about landscape sustainability with our knowledgeable staff.
Client budget restraints compromise planting operations in some schools, so Green Options offer in house propagation as a solution to a range of facilities. Suitable species include Agave, Clivea, Liriope and Phormium, this initiative ensures costs are reduced and clients are satisfied. Getting the students involved in the growing of these plants also helps with engagement.
Green Options currently maintain the grounds and gardens at many high profile girls, boys and co-educational schools including universities, pre-schools, GPS, CAS, IGSSA, ISA, QGSSSA and CCC schools across Australia. Multiple award winning landscapes are created and maintained by our skilled teams that intimately understand how to be an asset to a school environment.
